Selfish Hedonist in the Family

It now seems that Alan Keyes' daughter is a lesbian. As Andrew Sullivan points out, there are many conservative and anti-gay activists who have gay or lesbian children. Is there a relationship here? Well, having a right-wing parent surely won't make a child gay. I'm sure being Alan Keyes's kid is no walk in the park, but I doubt if she became a lesbian as a result of or in response to this. Rather, the connection might run the other way. Conservative parents with a gay child might flip out and push themselves to the right on the issue as a form of denial or punishment. Sort of how southern whites with questionable lineage often became the most virulent race-baiters.
