Obama's Meeting with Religious Leaders

Reports like this have to make the McCain campaign very nervous. He needs strong support from religious conservatives and this suggests that he's going to have to fight for them. Obama's outreach to white evangelicals is like his 50-state strategy. He's not going to win Texas, but by competing there he forces McCain to spend scarce resources that would be better used in swing states like Ohio. Obama's not going to win a majority of white evangelicals, but by competing for them he distracts McCain from swing voters like white women.
