Last night, President Obama laughed as a "comedian" wished for the death of one of his political opponents:
Rush Limbaugh once attacked me by name. I have recently criticized him. But as a kidney donor, I find Sykes's line -- and President Obama's reaction -- to be utterly contemptible.

I find all those Presidential galas and roasts to be a bit demeaning to the office of the President--a passive aggressive arrangement whereby the establishment of DC shows the President who's really boss by making him belittle himself in their presence. Anyhow, Obama should recognize that even acknowledging the existence of Rush Limbaugh does him no service. I read this once in an 18th century French novel (can't recall which one): A gentleman will not dismount to answer the insult of a scoundrel.
I feel sorry for your students, John. What utter tripe you must dispense in your classes.

John, are you for real, or are you just not able to process bad jokes by poor comedians as irrelevant?
One thing you do seem to be good at, though, is hyperbole.
