Here's a new version of the regression plot of Bush's county-level vote in 2000 and 2004. This has updated data that eliminates some of the weird outliers in the earlier graph. With this data, a regression model that weights for total votes cast, the coefficient for Bush00 is 1.0. The r2 is .95.
