Bush's pattern of repeating the same catchphrases over and over works better on the campaign trail -- cheered on by friendly crowds, making the lead story on the nightly news in Milwaukee or Tampa -- than it does during a 90-minute debate. Conversely, Kerry's tendency to speak in full-blown paragraphs suits him better here than when trying to make a sound-bite.
