Check out this great collection of campaign ads at the Museum of the Moving Image site. If you are inclined to think that American politics is nastier and more polarized than ever, look at some of the Nixon ads from 1968. They're really amazing--lots of creepy, atonal music, straight out of a sci-fi horror film, graphic images of bloody protesters and wounded soldiers, and this tag line, "This time, vote like your whole world depended on it." Far more hard-hitting than anything being run this year.
