On another subject entirely, tonight's big winner is David Ortiz. The big guy saved the Sox, and prevented what we all thought we were seeing when the Angels got that big five run inning--the beginning of the end. In my mind's eye, I just knew right then that the Sox were going to blow the game and then end up losing the next two.
This was critical because now the Sox will go into their series with the Yankees (sorry Twins fans, but you must face the inevitable) with their starters having fresher arms than the pitchers for New York. And it is very clear that this makes a big difference, at least in Pedro's case. Along with my unquestionable 305 EV prediction for Kerry, I'll say that the Sox take the AL series in 6.
